Opportunities for Business Engagement with Greenland

Greenland is the world’s largest island, located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. For generations, Maine has engaged with this autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark consistently through research and academic institutions dating back as far as the late 1800s.

Today, Greenland is rapidly growing in economic and geopolitical significance. With weekly ocean service connecting the Port of Nuuk to the Port of Portland and a state-of-the-art cold storage facility coming to Portland’s waterfront in 2022, this is an exciting time for Greenland and Maine to work together to build Greenland-US trade.

Join MITC’s Maine North Atlantic Development Office Director Dana Eidsness for a conversation with Greenland’s Foreign Minister H.E. Pele Broberg about opportunities for business engagement with Greenland, the importance of acknowledging cultural differences and empowering indigenous Greenlanders in business, and the role for disruption in Greenland’s current business climate.
